The Fort Mill Savings Bank, of Fort Mill, S. C., 18 miles from Char i lotte, waB dynamitted at an early boor Tuesday morning of last week and it is estimated that between six i and ten thousand dollars were stolen. An entrance was effected through the front door of the bank and the vault and safe doors successfully drilled and dynamited. A clock on the wall of the banking room had stopped at 3:55 a. m., evidently indicating the time of the explosion. The bank officials refuse to make a statement as to the extent of their loss. A large amount of paper money was found torn to shreds by the force of the explosion. The robbers are thought to have been professionals. There is no clue to the perpetrators of the deed. Williameport, Oct. 2.?A posse of men is scouring the country about Montoursville today for a gang of men who last night planned whole I ile robbery of the town, The men iatanded to shut off the electric ligbt plant so that the robbery might be done in darkness. This is an off year, and capitalists find that two years are long enough to patch up peace and bring troublesome people to terms. They can help themselves and the Republican party and the Democratic party all at the time and pull out ahead in the end. How They Stand. Four States have just held Democratic conventions and adopted platforms. In Ohio, Bryan and fre8 silI ver are endorsed. Iu Iowa silver was ignored, the trusts and the tariff were made the issue. Ia Wisconsin the Democrats found plenty of material in State issues to fill their platform, but gave a parting shot to trusts and the tariff.
