The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday, February 12, 1902. Prom Savill&. To the Editor of the Dispatch: The health of the community is cot very good at this writing, but we hope the usual good health of the community will soon be restored. Mrs. P. E. Black bas been very sick for the past few days, but we are glad to say that she is improving. Little Ira, the son of Mr. W. IT. Kood, met with an unfortunate accident recently. A shingle block fell on him from a wagoD, and knocking dowD, the wagon wheel passed over one of bis legs. Mr. T. Hill had the misfortune to lose one of his fine Tennessee hogs sometime since. We often hear of fortunes and misfortune?, but the girls would rather hear of Mr. Fortune. We will have to go to Charleston on the 14tb, to see the President of these United States. Messrs. L. E. Black and H. D. Harman went to Batesburg on Monday last and took in all the rain. Some of our farmers have been resowiDg their lands which were recently frozen, bat I think the land is bo wet that the seed will never see the light. Mr. J. J. Long hauled a load of wood to our school house last week, which was very acceptable. Some very unfavorable weather has passed, so we say, but we must take it as it comes whether it pleases or dipieases us. Our wishes are really not considered in the matter at all. We grumble and growl about the Lord's work and vainly imagine that if we ooold have it our way we would have it better than the Lord can possibly arrange the immutable laws of nature. But well for us and our world that it is not so ordained. The Lord is the omnipotent ruler of the universe and orders all things as to him seemeth best for the happiness of his creature*. We must do like cur friend Max says: "Fear God and don't grumble." Just work and leave the results to God, and I can assure you that all things will work out right in the end. H. February 3, 1902. To the Editor of the Dispatch: The health of the community is not very good at this writing. Prof. S. S. Lindier speaks of planti lag a pecan grove. Mr. \Y. D. Sense has completed his i yard pailing, which will keep the j mad dogs on the outside. | Miss Ally Eargle, of Dutch Fork, ha8 been spending the past week with relatives in this section. Mr. J. J. Long is doing a flourish- ! ing business at his mill now. A new heater has been placed in St. Paul's church. The members cf that congregation seem to be getting more enthusiastic in church work. They are now arranging to do a great deal more work cn their church which will prove attractive improve1 ? ?? ill ?? ment8 to the edifice and a credit to the members. Mr. W. W. Black, of Cross Hill, who has been visitiDg at his father's, Mr. P. E. Black, has returned home. Mr. D. D. Amick has moved to Newberry, where his children will work in the factory. Mr. P. W. Shealy has recently moved near this place. "We gladly welcome him in our section. New ground is scarce in this section. Guess everybody has enough land to make 5 cents cotton cn. The ctmlorifa fln/1 fpiiohpr had a ! working at this place recently and added much to the appearance of the place. Some work is alsobeiDg done around Mount Pleasant church. This shows respect for the school house and the church. Some of our go a-head farmers have been in full bloom turning their land. The early bird generally catche3 the worm, if he don't miss it and catch five cents cotton and 95 cents corn. Mr. Editor, you know we boys like to tell jjkes sometimes, and I think I will wrap one up in the Dispatch and throw it at its many readers. Once there was a man and his wife who could not get along weil. One day during one of the usual connu- | bial disagreements the wife exclaimed in a fit of exasperation, "I wish I was in heaven.'' The husband answered: 4'I wish I wc^p in a whisky still house.'' The woman grew redder in the face and angrily responded, 4-You unfeeling wretch! you always wish yourself in the best place.'' Max. We liDow of no way in which we can be of more service to our readers than to tell them of something that will be of real good to them. For this reason we want to acquaint them with what we consider one of the very best remedies on the market for coughs, colds and that alarming complaint, croup. We refer to Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. We have used it witn suca gooa results in Gur family so loDg that it has become a household necessity. By its prompt use we haven't any doubt but that it has time and again prevented croup. The testimony is given upoD our own experience, and we suggest that our readers, especially those who have small children, always keep it in their homes as a safegaurd against croup." For sale by J. Catarrh has become such a common disease that a person entirely free fiom this disgusting complaint is seldom met with. It is customary to speak of Catarrh as nothing more serious thau.a bad cold a simple inflammation of the nose and throat. It is, in fact, a complicated and very dangerous disease; if r.ot at first, it very soon becomes so. The blood is quickly contaminated by the foul secretions, and the poison through the general circulation is carried to ai! parts of the system. Salves, washes and sprays are unsatisfactory and disappointing, liccausc they dc not reach the seat of the trot:! le. S. S. S. does. It cleanses the biood of the poison and eliminates from the system ail catarrhal secretions, ami thus cures thoroughly and permanently the worst cases. Mr. T. A.
