[Advertisement.] My friends, still hearing this rumci about me, came to see me, and aftei a consultation with several of my friends, we decided to publish the facts of the case, and if this is net satisfactory to anyone, all we ask is to write either of the brethren who have signed this paper, or to Rev. James D. Kinard, Leesville, S. C. This is to certify that we, the undersigned, do say and declare that the charges in circulation about J. E. B. McCartha, concerning some school money of School District No. 71, wherein the said McCartha, being accused of making away, or got some of said money illegally or unjust, or by fraud, or by whatever name it may be called, or what may be said, we declare that the above charges are false and those who are telling such things on McCartha are simply engaging in untruths and falsehoods, and such parties should be beneath a gentleman or Christian's notice. We know McCartha and always found him to be an honest *nd truthful gentleman, and we would say tc all who hear such things on McCartha, consider the source it comes from, for such things have no foundation. Also, we, as a committee oi Salem E. L.
