T. Baker ; be it Resolved, 1. That we tender our heartfelt sympathy to our teacher iu this hour of sevore bereavement and sorrow. 2. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the beieaved family and also to the county papers. It. E. Sharp, M. A. Connolly, li. M. JNisbet, Eva Ilough, Lotta Gaston, Comraittoe of Summer School. Till IIUTU OF RESPECT. Resolutions passed at a meeting of the Crunford Club June 20, 1003. Whereas, Mrs. L. T. Barker, one of the most cultured and intellectual members of the Cranford Club, has been removed from ibis earthly abode to fairer realms, this club, while bowing submissively to the will of Him who doeth all things well, is deeply sensible of the loss it has sustained. As president, and in every position in which she was called to serve, she did hei%duty as she saw it. To au attractive personality was added the beauty of christian character. Therefore bo it Resolved: First, that the Craniord Club has lost one of its most active and intelligent members. Second, That we tender to the devoted husband and lover, ones our sincerost sympathies in their bereavement. Third, That a blank page in the minute book be set apart to her j memory, and the name and date of her death inscribed thereon. Fourth, That a copy of these j re olutions be sent to the mom- | bers of her family and that the Lancaster and Kershaw county papers be requested to publish them. auditor iiamei Motes Improvements Since His Visit S i x Months ago. It was our pleasant privilege to ' spend a part of two days in Lan- j caster, our old home, last week, j Jt was practically our first visit in j about six months. We met many : of our old friends, whom wo are ' 1 | always glad to see and from whom we received some cordial hand shakes and kind words?Lancaster has a warm hearted people. ? We noted the completion of the 1 graded school building, the $750,- J 000 addition to the cotton mill and i cementing of the pavements. The last mentioned improvement be- j ing the very best work, in our 1 judgment, that baa been done by j the town authorities for the place since we have known it. It will be noted those improvements are all along different lines, denoting a varied progress. Wo were unable to judge of the spiritual progress but trust that this too has kept pace with the material. There is the absence of two essentials which the town cannot very well afford to be without longer ? light and water?a better cjuality of these i s meant?b u t they're coming. Wo rejoice to see th's prosperity and trust there tnay he still greater things ii tho future for old Lancaster. We were also glad to hear the many kind cxpres sions for Kershaw which we met with and the interest manifested in her welfare. There is no spirit of rivalry but a feeling of kinship between the towns which is grati fying. May each prosper in the largest degree.?Kershaw Kra.
