Had A Hand ?rimary. This State's Senii r Senator Talk* on Negro Quostion in Wnconsul. Madison, Wis., March lit.? United States Senator Tillman of South Carolina delivered an address'on "The Negro Quefhon from a Southern Stand-point" before an audience of 1,S00 tunvrAmit i m rttf I ? TWA 01 \,J nUiUUUlS, tlll/iUlia UIIU IUYV* makers tonight, lie was greeted with the stirring university yell. A rather sensational incident occurred while Senator Tillman was discussing the Indianola postotlice case. After stating the southern view of the affair, he asked whether the audience approved of President Roosevelt's action and there was applause, lieing uncertain whether the applause was intended as an indorsement of the president's action, the senator asked how it was meant. He was told that it was a. 1 a _ r il.? meant as an enuorseuieni 01 me president. That aroused the senator. II? went into the details of tho Indianola atlair and when he concluded asked his heat ers whether it would not liavo been better for the president to have kept the oilice open and punished the few hotheads that caused the trouble than to have punished thejentiro community by closing tho oilice, requesting those to raise their hands who supported the president's action. Only a few raised their hands. In the main his address was much like Ins ot er recent utterances on the same subject.
