Our 1 little community is a thriving i puico Known as Hell Town. 1 I think it derived it's name, years ngo, from the Bells that lived hero, although there is but one family of Bells living here now. It is pretty thickly settled, and 1 think we have some as good peoplo as there are.living anywhere. They have all tho push and cnerjgy that you ore looking for, and j there at o not any better neigh< hors to he found. i j Well, Air. Editor, ue are I having more rain. It teems as if I the farmers will not got anything done before April, if then. We had one week of very good wcath of, und I think the farmers made good use of it but it will bo several clays before any more plowing can bo done. The grain crop is looking tine, especially fall oat*, 1 do not think there are -very many spring oats sowed, but if nothing prevents, tho grain crop will bo very good. We ! ave preaching twice a month, at 11 a. in., every second and in tho afternoon of every ( fourth Sunday at Camp Crock. "7 * ?<"' Sydney Blair, a fanner ngcd 60 years, was murdered and his niece, Miss Sallio Walker, wis shot three times and seriously wounded by a negro named Broad* nax. The affair occurred live miles from R.idsville, about dark, while Mr. Blair and his niece, Miss Walker, wore at supper. The negro visited the homo, and engage 1 in a conversation with Mr. Blair. Without warning he drew his pistol and tired upon them Mr. Blair was killed almost instantly, two halls taking effect. One entered at the collar hone and the other pieiced the bowels. He fell to the lloor. The negro then emptied his pistol at Miss Walker, three bullets taking effect in he: body. She escaped and alarmed the neighbors, who found the negro in the act of pillaging the house. lie was safely placed in Ueidsville jail.
