The last meeting of Presbyo tery at Beersheba, previous to the meeting of this week, was held twenty- two years ago, and of all the ministers and elders present at the meeting this week, Rev. W. W. Ratchford is the only one who was present at the meeting twenty-two years ago. Although quite an old man now, Mr. Ratchford still enj )js good health and has lots of vim and energy.? Yorkville Enquirer. Lancaster Countv sraima kvm* Settlement. The annual settlement of the county treasurer and auditor was made Wednesday with Mr. T. B. Clyburn of the Comptroller general's office. Everything was fouad correct and the settlement was highly satisfactory. Our officials, as usual, were the first of auy in the State to make settlement. They have been ready since July 1st, and notified the Comptroller general of their readiness at that time?which notice was received by him more than a month earlier than notice from any other county. A Pretty Home Marriage. The home of Mrs. W. H. Green in Cedar Creek township was the scene of a pretty home wedding last Wednesday evening, Oct. 15, 1902. Her eldest daugho ter, Miss Sue B. Green, was hap pily married to Mr. Walter Hay es of York county, the interesting ceremony being performed by Rev. P. Br Ingram of York, assisted by Kev. John Neely of Chester County. The bride looked lovely bearing a beautiful bouquet of white roses and attired in a handsome green silk trimmed in white. After the nuptials an excellent weddinc snnnAr ? n "-rr"- ,?"u served to the relative** and most intimate friends, the invited gu'sts on the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes left Thursday morn* ing for the groem's home in York county carrying with them the best wishes of a host of friends. The attendants were: Mr. Frank Green with Miss Fred Hicklin, Mr. Lewis Perry with Miss Net* lie Green, Mr. James Gladden of Chester with Miss Janie Hieklin, Mr. Maloney of York with Miss Lily Adams. ?Messrs. On Wednesday morning last, Mr. It. H. Fudge, u prominent merchant of Landsford, and Mrs. Gertrude Gregory, formerly of this place but now .of Landsford, were quietly married at the Baptist parsonage at Fort Lawn, the Rev. Mr. Yarborough performing the ceremony. Only a few of the most intimate friends of the par* ties had been apprised beforehand of the objejt of tneir buggy ride to Fort Lawn that morning. Mr. and Mrs. Fudge left Thursday for Washington, D. C., where they will spend a couple of weeks. The bride will have the best wishes of her many friends hero, where she resided several years. Marriage at Riverside. On Thursday last, Oct. 16, 1902, ut the home of the bride's father, Mr. J. R. Thompson, at Riverside, Miss Mary Louise Thompson and Mr. John B. Williaais of Yorkville, were anited in the holy bonds of wedlock, Rev. W. C. Ewart, of this place, pronouncing the impressive words which joined these two happy j young lives. The parlor, where the ceremony took place at 1:30 p. m. was prettily decorated with evergreens and flowers. Only a iow relatives and most intimate friends were present. Mcllwain of this place as a local special agent to collect cotton ginning statistics for this county. All the ginne: s of the county are urged to^give Mr. Mcllwain their hearty support and cooperation, in order that ho will be enabled to forward prompt and accurato reports to the census office at Washington. It will be his duty to visit each ginnery in the county and secure a report of the cotton ginne'd up to certain dates. The census office has demonstrated in three annual reports the fact that the ginnerB are the only roliablo source of information as to the .volume of the annual cotton crop of the State.
