Hock Hill Herald. Homicide at Dwight Mr. Samuel E Usher was ahot and killed by Mr. John H. Steele about auuaet laat Wednesday at Dwight. The shootiug occurred in the yard of Mr. Ja?. O. Porter and Mr. Usher, who had just shot a raWbit and given it to Mr. Porter's little child, was standing near the cook-rooui door talking to Mt 8. Porter whea the shooting occurred. A double barreled shot gun was the weapon used and both barrels were fired simultaneously. The first load took effect in Mr.Usher's left breast above the heart and the second between the shoulders. Usher fell to the ground exclaiming "Oh Lord!" and died in a few minutes. The two men lived just across the road from each other k.a I.-J 1 ' ... uui iiuu leenng nau existed between thorn and they had not spoken to each other for several years. Monday wbiloMr. Steele was on the roadside, Mr. Usher stood in his door and used language to him that aggravated their differences and led to the homi* cide. The affair is very much regrotted by the friends of both parties. Mr. Steele is a prosperous young farmer about 35 years of age and has a wife and four small children. W. C. Hough, Esq., represents Mr. Steele and we understand will make application to the court at once for bail. The deceased was about 65 years of age, a one-armed exConfederate soldier and leaves a widow and seven children, all grown, surviving him.
