C harleston, July 21). ?in the United States circuit court t~dav Judge Simonton handed down his decision in the case of the State of South Carolina against the Virginia-Carolina Chemical company, granting the motion of plaintill ft>r the remand of the case to the State court. The decision is a victory for Attorney General Bellinger. It j will lie recalled that several months ago Attoi ney General Bellinger brought action against the Virginia Carolina Chemical company, in the Ricldand county court, under the nnti trust act, ii - * aueging uiut Uio jconipany was pin chasing and acquiring a monopoly of the fertilizer industry, contrary to law. The attorney for the company moved before Judge Buchanan for a transfer of the suit to the federal court, alleging the act to bo in derogation of the constitution of the United States. The judge refused tho motion, but the attorneys secured copies of the proceedings and tiled them in the circuit court and later Judge Simenton heard the arguments on the motion of Attorney General Bellinger for the remind. Augusta, July 29.?ltuhy Buist, a little girl 9 years old, fell through an open bridge into the canal this afternoon. A young white man, Dennis Carhill, saw the child drowning and jumped in to save her, but the current over came him. Both were drowned. Two Negro Hoys Shot. Spartanburg, July 28. ? Anderson, July 30.?The news of an assault on a 12 year old idiotic dumb girl in this county, 12 miles from here, last Saturday, has jiiat come to light here. Oa that afternoon .John Shaw, a big muscular boy of 20, caught K1H Brulcher, who was sitting by the roadside -villi her sister aged 9, and seized her and carried her about 100 yards into the woods. The younger girl ran to the house, a short distance, and gave the uiiiriii anil Shaw left The chill's father hail no Dims and was unable to cope with Shaw. The father wcut to a neighboring! magistrate for h warrant, but for some reason the magistrate did not issue the writ, and came here on Tuesday and had an attorney to draw up the warrant, i n the meantime Shaw had left. The matter ?as kept quiet for some reason. The magistrate states that he though' Shaw would soon return, hut up to this time he has not been Heard of. Shaw is largo for his ago. dark skin and la-ge nose and left driving a black horse to a buggy. lie is not ovet intelligent and is not likely to get far from home.
