Tillman, Sr., of Van Wyck, hardy escaped serious injury last Monday evening by his foot hanging in his H4.irrup when alighting from his saddle. Tho mule he was riding became frightened by his efforts to get his foot loose, and ran, dragging him about fifty yards. One ankle was badly sprained and bruised and he received other bruises about his shoulder and arms. He has not 4, been able to walk any since his misfortune and is suffering a good deal of pain. Iliner and Miss Ri ta McMsdus, two wellknowu veung people of this com \ munity, went to South Carolina last Snnday evening and were married by 'Squire T. W. Secrest, of Osceola. Their marriage was quite a surprise to their friends, j Mr. James R. Caskey was shot in the breast by Mr. Rufus Eu- j banks at this place Wednesday evening. The ball entered the left breast, glanced upward, and is supposed to be lodged about the shoulder though it has not been located. Mr. Caskey was j able to he on the street the next day. The wound is not thought to be at all serious. An infant child of Hattie Pottf, a coiored woman living on Mr. D. K. Hall's place, nenr Pleasant Valley, died Inst Saturday. After the interment foul play was suspected, and on Monday an investigation was held, the body being taken up, and an examination being made by Dr. Potts. Lewis and E.F. McCain, attorneys of Yorkrille, appeared before Justice Ira B. Jones of the Supremo court, at this place, last Wednesday afternoon to argue tho matter of a temporary injunction of the town oouncil of Yorkrille from holding a dispensary election in the town on March 7th. The rule that the penned show cause why the in* junction should not he grunted was procured before Judge Jones last week. Mr. L?ewis argued for the injunction and Mr. McCaiu represented the council.
