Out of Respect to Memory of Judge Wilson Who Dies Suddenly. By Telegraph to Greenville News. Washington, Sept. '24. ? Judge Wilson, one of Admiral Schley1 a counsel, died suddenly of acute indigestion, at the Sfoebutn bote at 12 n'cleck this morning. Ad jural Schley expressed hini' self shocked beyond measure at | the death of Judge Wilson and said he could not express himself. The testimony before the court of inquiry bad just started when adjournment was tuken. Little or no important facts were brought out. O'her witnesses on hand would bare testitined to Schley's knowledge of the conditions at Cienfuegoa. Judge Wilson was slightly indisposed last night and disd this morning. Parker, of New Jersey, and M. A. Teague of Baltimore. Lieutenant Commander Heilner made some verbal corrections in the official copy of his testimony. A B Claxton who had charge of the port engine of the Texas testified that ?m the morning of the 3d of July lh98 the engine indicator on the Texas called for full speed ahead: within an hour alter the beginning of the uction it had been changed to full speed astern. He had no knowledge of the signal for the reversal of the engines but knew the engines were revers ?< iiuuiii iwii miliums. liear Admiral Cotton testified te informing Schley that small vessels ec u 1(1 coal at GonaivesBay but battle ships could not. Hear Admiral Cotton who commanded the auxiliary cruiser Harvard during the war, testified that lie delivered to Schley five cable dispatches from the navy department among which was an order to remain ofT Santiago. On account of the short supply of coal Schley cabled back "It is to be regretted that the department's erders can't be obeyed inasmuch as we have all striven to that end." Haynqr called attention to the fact that the dispatch in the recerds had been changed and reads: "Much to be regretted can't obey orders of department." This caused a sensation.
