We regret to note the serious illness of Mrs. Amanda Hood, widow of the late S. C. M. Hood, ! at her home at this place. Died, in the Douglas suction of whooping cough, on Friday last, little Willie, the three months old babe of Mr. and Mrs. W. ?I. Williams. Willie's little twin sister died onlv a week or so ago. -f+Miss Ethel Jackson, one of the ladies of the Kpworth Orphanage, j is here on a visit to her brother, 1 Mr. J. O. Jackson. Rowell, Co. Supt. Ed. Stock Holders Meeting The Stockholders of the LancaHtor Cotton Mills met Monday last in President Springs' office. About three-fourths of the stock wftH represented. The president's report, and also the secretary's report were very gratifying. The mill is doing well. The machinery for the new mill is all purchased and ready for delivery as soon as the new building is completed which will be about October 1st. It is expected to have all the machinery placed in the building and ready for operation bv January 1st. Electricity, generated at Landsford on the river, will bo the motor power of the mill. In case the plant cannot be completed in time then a steam plant will be erected here to be used as auxliary to the electric power. The old board of directors was re-elected. The usual 4 per cent semi-annual dividend was paid the stockholders on July Lst. Immediately after the adjournment of the stockholders meeting, the directors met. The same otiiI cers were re-elected and same salaries voted. The policeman made search of the premises but was unable to find any money. He, however, took note of a good many things that made a suspicious case, to say the least, against one of the darkies. Magistrate Caskey was awoke* and a warrant procured for both the Fosters. Ilenry very readly gave bond in the sum of *300., but his brother failed to get bond. However, the case was compromised on the Fosters paying Pickett *12. and the costs. The darkies are all brickmasons at work on the cotton mill.
