KxcetiBiTO rains orer tb? entire \ state characterized the beginning of thy week, and general rains I prerailed at its close. Bottoms i were flooded and the crops that I were on them were destroyed; hillsides and terraced lands were badly damaged, eroded and gullied, the young cotton and corn washed rp. Hail occurred at many points, but only in portions of Abbeville, Edgefield, Saluda, Sumter and Williamsburg counties did it seriously damage crops. The ground was too wet to plow durieg the greater part of the week, and fields are becoming j grassy. Cotton is new generally up te good stand*, and chopping out it being prosecuted wbaraver this work has not bean finished, but cultiyatian is needed. Tha rains causad a marked improvement wbera tha standi ara now confined to early cotton that was not replanted. In Oconee stands are dying. Saa island cotton looks batter, but blight haa appaarad on it. Corn on uplands has a healthy color, is growing, and stands are fairly good, but practically all b >tlom land corn was destroyed and must be replanted. Bud worms are doing damage in places.
