Mr. 'Ellison Hagins, of the Unity section, died about one o'clock a. in., Thursday. He had been con fined to his bed for some weeks and suffered from a complication of troubles. He was a son of Mrs. Martha Ilagins and a brother of Mr. John Hagins of Elirin. lie was about 56 years n v of age and by trade was a painter, lie served through the Confederate war und made a good soldier. After the war he moved out West and lived in Arkansas and Texas until several years ago when he moved back to this country. lie leaves a wife but no children. His remains were interred Thursday afternoon at Zion church. Closing ISxereises of the railed School The ninth nnnuul session of the Lancaster Graded school terminated yesterday with usual graduation exercises. Th? number of friends and patrons ot the school present was quite lurga consider ing the very inclement went her. The program, as published, was excellently rendered. The salutatory by Bennie Clyburn ? sunject, ' Men behind tha Throne," ? was high y corapli nented, both as to composition and tha way in which it was spoken. After the superintendent's report the award of certificates was made by chairman B. F. Millar to tha graduates, viz: Estelle Duke, Bannie Clyburn, Maude Gregory. Ellen Jordan, Ralph Foster. The address of Rav. J. H. Boldridge n education was pronounced one of his best efforts and was highly enjoyed. The medal for composition was awarded to Blanche Couear by the Rey. W. C. Ewart of tha committee to which thirty odd compositions had bpen submitted. The valedictory?subject, "The Woman of Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow," by Estelle Duke, was excellent, and won her many nice compliments from 'the auditor*. The exhibit of work done by J(pupili<, comprising papers on all j subjects taught, drawing, writing, e^.c., was simply beyond expectation. Death of Mrs. V. II. Blakeney. M rs. V. M. Blakeney, who resided in Kershaw a while with ber son, E. D. Blakeney, Esq., died at her home in Cansden 01 at of chronic bronchitis, in her 7id year, bhe was the widow of the late Gen. J W Blakeney, of Camden, and to them six children were horn, ouly two of whom. Mis. E. C. Zemp, of Camden, and our fellow townsman, Mr. E. D. Blakeney, are living. Mrs. Blakeaey's remains were interred ia the Camden cemetery 23d in3t, after funeral services by Rev. J. L. Stokes, pastor of the Camden Methodist church, <rf which she was a consistent member. Mis. Blakeney will be reunmbered for her-gentle nunneri and amiable disposition. She wan hii>h 1 y cultured and was a most devoted mother Her devotion to the two children of her twin, Mr. E. D.
