Bamberg, Jan. 17.?Robert Smalls, a negro shop keeper, shot and killed Willie Carter, a colored barber on Main street about 1 o'clock this afternoon. The scene of tbo shooting was a negro divo where five homicides have occured within us many years. iSmtlls claims that he and Carter were good frieDds, that he called Carter in his shop and was in the act of showing him his revolver and that it accidentally went off. Other Witnesses say that Carter was passing Small's shop and that Carter called Smalls a liar; that Smalls called Carter into his shop ?nd as soon as he stepped in he wasshotdown. After the shooting Smalls ran up street toward the jail, his face splattered with Carter's brains.
