Last Friday afternoon, on Mr J \V DeLaney's place, near Osceola, Eliza Tillman, u disreptitaole colored woman, ?vas shot by a negro, \T m Porter. She lingered until Sunday night when she died. Coroner Young held an inquest Monday and the facts developed indicated that the shooting was accidental. Porter and I the woman were ly ing across a I bed and he was getting up to leave when he reached to get his J pistoi wnien hp nau placed under a p:llow. In pulling the pistol out it was discharged, the hall entering the woman's left sidoand, as shown by tho autopsy, passed through the . intestines. The woman said "you have shot mo." Ho said, "1 reckon not." When she showed him that he had ho i went out into the yard and ealled ^ another negro man to remain with her while he went for Dr Houston. He returned with tho Doctor in about au hour and a half and remained with the woman giving her every attention until i Sunday evening when tho Doctor said the woman could not live i many hours, l'orter then went to Constable W .1 Crenshaw's and gave himself up. He was brought to town yesterday and committed to jail. Last Sunday afternoon, while returning home from a visit to a sick relative, Mrs. H L Connor ind her sister indaw, Mrs. ,J B Jonnor, with two children each were thrown from their buggy, 1 r?es?* tho Snrinors' Industrial Mull and every vino of them moro or less hurt hut none seriously. The injuries of the two ladies and of ane of the little hoys of Mr. ,1 I?; Connor were very painful but after some attention from I)r. M P Crawford, they were ahle to ho taken on to their home about a mile East of town. Their mule became frightend at a little doc* running out in the road harking at it and hence the runaway. The buggy was totally demolished. On Monday afternoon, about the same spot tho mule of Mr. fe'am Watson, of the Creek neigh-j borhood, became frightened at sumo oicycies passing anu run on, throwing Mr. Watson trom his wagon and causing a bad fracture of tho collar bone?the ends of the bone protruding through the skin.
