Griffith Succeeds Neal, Robinson Succeeds Douthit aud Boykin Elected on the Board of Control ? Other Elections. Special to (ireenville News. Columbia, S. C., dan. 24.?The final vote today for superintundont of the penitentiary resulted: Griffith, 06: Neal, 28; Crura, 11; MeCuilough, 1.6 Bell, 2. Before any changes were announced the rote stood: Grffith, 71; Neal, 34; McCullough, 23; Crura, 22, Bell, 3. Then changes were made in a rush, all changes being to Griffith. Neal, who was in the hall, said that the last effort was made to deal with Charleston without success. There wan a terriffc content for a five year term on the hoard of dispensary control, in which Douthit, of Anderson, was de feuted hy T. Chris Robinson, of Pickens, the final vote standing Douthit 70, Robinson 78. On account of the closeness of the vote a poll was demanded. Amid much confusion Robinson was declared elected. For directors of the penitentiary the vote resulted as follows: Sanders, 130; Cunningham, 115; O'Dell, s."?- 1.vies, 78; Blaokwell, C4if: the first three being elected. Bhirkwell and Dyles, member* of the present hoard, were defeated. T. rJ. Cunningham was.re-elected. \V. T. O'Dell and A. K. Sanders are new men. Miss Montgomery was elected librarian over Mrs. LeConte. There was much feeling in the Douthit-Robinson contest. The Sanders hiil to repeal the metropolitan police law passed the houso. W. L.'
