A little 3-yoar old daughter of a M rs Robinson at the factory narrowly escaped being killed Wednesday last by a peculiar accident '''he children discovered that by holding the butt end of an old gun barrel, which had been used for yeurs as a tire poker, in the tire they could hear a frying sound by placing an ear to the muzzle. It came the little girls time to listen to the noise and as she was raising the muzzle to her ear it was discharged, a load <?f nhiU on(nr. ing above her ear and glancing I upward. In order not to interfere with ; the regular exercises the observance of the anniversary of (Jen. Lee's birthday by the graded school came oil on Friday instead' Thursday. A large nrmher of citizens were present on the occasion and enjoyed it very much. The exercises were opened with prayer by Rev J II Boldridge. j The school then united in singing "Praise Him," after which "Dixie" was sung. Then followed a recitation, "The Sword of Lee", by some little girls. The address by Rev. \T Ii Gordon of Camden, who was a soldier under Lee, was next on ttie programme, and was highly entertaining and instructive. "America" was then sung by the school and the exercises closed w th the benediction.
