A Singular Accident.
A little 3-yoar old daughter of
a M rs Robinson at the factory narrowly
escaped being killed Wednesday
last by a peculiar accident
'''he children discovered that by
holding the butt end of an old gun
barrel, which had been used for
yeurs as a tire poker, in the tire
they could hear a frying sound by
placing an ear to the muzzle. It
came the little girls time to listen
to the noise and as she was raising
the muzzle to her ear it was
discharged, a load <?f nhiU on(nr.
ing above her ear and glancing
I upward. Dr Poovey removed the
ii
shot. It was n narrow escape and
I verities the old saying that a gun

Lee's Itiathduy Observed by the j
Crndcd School.
In order not to interfere with ;
the regular exercises the observance
of the anniversary of (Jen.
Lee's birthday by the graded
school came oil on Friday instead'
Thursday. A large nrmher of
citizens were present on the occasion
and enjoyed it very much.
The exercises were opened with
prayer by Rev J II Boldridge. j
The school then united in singing
"Praise Him," after which
"Dixie" was sung. Then followed
a recitation, "The Sword
of Lee", by some little girls. The
address by Rev. \T Ii Gordon of
Camden, who was a soldier under
Lee, was next on ttie programme,
and was highly entertaining and
instructive. "America" was then
sung by the school and the exercises
closed w th the benediction.
