Kditor Vorkville Knquirer: Nearly four weeks ago, I received a letter of inquiry from j you in regard <> Mr T Allen Mc- j Query, and while 1 am ashamed that it has never before been nnswered, 1 assure you the reason was because 1 kept thinking 4the next day, would undoubtedly bring tidings from the young mau. Rut I have heard nothing from him sinee ho was just in the act of entering the Suez canal, at Port , Said, Egypt. J He succeeded admirably in fulfilling his contract as to Cuba, and after returning to this country, he 'stowed awav, at New Orleans on the steamer 'Indiani,' and was not heard of again until at Gibraltar, Spain, and Port Said, Egypt. I should have heard from him by this from Yokohama, I supposed; but probably lie has not had time enough to get me a letter from there, although I am confident ho has reached that point ere this. I will receive a telegram the moment he sets foot on American soil at San Francisco, and will immediately notify you afterwards. The reason he could not carry out his contract with you folks, is easily understood, when you consider the situation he is in having to go as a 'stowaway.' Of course, in his letter to me from Egypt, he said he had al ready 'crawled out,' made the acquaintance of the captain (the crew knew he was on?in fact, helped him to conceal his trunk, etc., and hide himself until a thousand miles or more from America), and that they were now fast friends, etc. Said he had become considerably harden ed to the life of a 'salt,' and was getting along very nicely, although the climatic changes went some I I a wiihi Mv?r?iy wuDoiimor twniie.
