3Ir Tiihnuii Nominated.
Some weeks a?;o we noted that
mi* 1 \V Tillman, formerly of this
county, now of Dresden, Texas,
was a candidate for the nomination
of Justice of the Peace on the
democratic ticket at his newly
adopted home, an otliee which
pays aitoul $S0O. per year. There
were three candidates tor the position.
A Texas paper just re
eeived announces that Mr Tillman
received the nomination, his competitors
having withdrawn their
names after seeing Mr Tillman's
strength in the convention after
the tirst few ballots. Mr Tillman
was called for ami in a five minute
speech thanked the convention for
the honor of the nomination and
assured hi* friends that he would
balance the scales of justice as
evenly as was in his power, and
that he was thankful for the confidence
reposed in him by his
friends and brother democrats.
