Warrow Escape in Washington Wednesday night of last week Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Lott and their two little daughters who were attending the Southern Baptist conve.ntion in Washington came near being asphyx iated. They retired at their hotel about 8:30 o'clock and one of the lit tle girls called Mr. Lott about 3:30 o'clock and complained of being sick. Mv. Lott responded to the call at once and found that gas was escap ing from the gas jet. One of the lit tle girls turned off the gas on retir ing but evidently did not cut it off entirely. Mr. and Mrs. Lott and both of the little" girls suffered somewhat from the effects of the gas but were able to attend the sessions of the con vention the next day. Had not the little girl been aroused from her sleep, doubtless all> of them in the roora would have been asphyxiated, j Their friends in Edgefield are de lighted that they sustained no serious injury. ^Better come and get some of the -great bargains before they are all .gone.
