The campaign meet ing at Parksville was by request cancelled, as the date conflicted with the annual protracted meet ing at that nlac3. Capt. N. G. After much discussion pro and con, it was adopted by a , vote of five io two. The resolution 1 was opposed by some members of . the committee and by several ci ti- ' zens who were present, upon tba ground tbht it brought ail issue into the campaign at this lat?, hour that would probahl)' lead to much feeling and friction without accomplishing anything. A s.imi- l? lar resolution was voted down in , the ?tate convention. The special box is not to be placed at the , managers bonn i in any sense to declara the result. It is danger- ( ous to establish such a precedent. All ballots upon vital issues ( should be cast in ?lections pro- , vided by lav/ o;- in elections regu larly couducbd under the rules of the Democratic party. Considerable dissatisfaction ex iste, among the candidates aud votera, over tho adoption of the j resolution, and it is very proba ble tbat the chairman will be ur ged to call a full meetiug of the committee to re-consider the matt ter. As itstauds, by a vote of five, there being uiueteen members of th:- committee, this issue has been forced upon tbe people, without auy previous intimation that such was contemplated.
