G. Gonzales outside newspapers will please observe that he is not an offi cial of South Carolina. The misfortune.and disgrace of his elevation to the Lieutenant Governorship was ended yes terday and a gentleman and a ^ood citizen now holds the office. " NORTH CAROLINA JUSTICE. On last Thursday James Wilcox, white, of a promin ent family, charged with kill ing Miss Nellie Cropsey, was tried at Hertford, N. C., and was convicted of murder in the second degree on purely circumstantial evidence and was given the maximum sen tence, 30years imprisonment. We risc to offer an amend ment to our constitution mak ing it mandatory that a "tar heel" jury be imported when a white man is to be tried for murder in South Carolina so that justice may be done to the dead as well as the living.
