Senator Tillman has recived a flattering offer from the lyceum bureau to appear for fifty nights in fifty different placea and lecture -,'on any topic he may cboone. He is inclined to coonida the proposi tion favorably, and there is no doubt of his success. Tillman is a man of original ideas and methods. He has a keen sense of humor, a quaint philosophy and ti picturesque personality which wili attract and entertain the public, ['.would be difficult, however, to J imagine him delivering a set speech. Like some thoroughbred horses, he will not work to harness, but must have pleauty of room and a free rein or he will not run at all. Under ordinary circum stances, except when he loses j hts temp-'r, lei? an entertaining talker, but his spe- ches have al ways been extemporaneous and h? could liot stick to mauurcript even if he had tb'* disposition to pre pare one. II is language is often uncouth, but that adds totheforct of his address. MU MCBEE'S f ?N?RAl, Last Sad Kites at Greenville in Bouor of Mont Estimable Woman. Greenville, S. C.. March 16. The funeral services of Mrs. Harriet Butler McBee in the First Baptist church this morning, were conducts! by Dr. C. S.Gardner, assisted by President Wilson, of Converse college. A large number of relatives and friends of Mrs. McBee from other parts of the state were pr-wnt lo pay a lt*st tribute of respect to the memory of this most excellent Christian woman. The remains were brought from Nor folk, Va., in the private car of her Fdn, C?pt. V. E. McBeei superintendent of the Seaboard railway. She wan the daughter of Frank Butler, of Edgefield, and grand daughter of General William Butlei, of revolutionary fame. She wes 79 years old at the lime of her death. Sb3 was buried in Christ church c^m-'tery. Her death has capt a gloom over Green ville, where she was loved and honored for her beautiful Christian character and her noble acts of de licate charity.
