Button, who was the first that got to him after the shooting, was tl?e declarations of the man that he was shot throe times, twice by Bryant and once by Miney, but did not mention given name of Miney. The verdict of the jury was in accordance with litis testimony, and the Trial Justice issued his warrant for the arrest of James Bryant, and Miney. Of course the warrant amounts to nothing so far as Miney is Xi. concerned, as the Shcriir could not aiseriini< state among the families of Mincys when neither the jury or the Trial Justice would do it. As thcro are several families of Bryants in this county, wc will mention that James Bryant here referred to is the son of a Baptist minister, Win. F. Bryant, v ho died in the army during the war. This matt Johnston was a notorious bad character, and warrants, which he defied? were out for hint for shooting James T. Todd' in December last, and during the previous week he had gone with a crowd to the house of Oliver Singleton and dragged him out of hod and mercilessly beat hint. The night before Johnston was killed Bryant's hotttc was shot six or eight times, Bryant was Ijot at home ,his wile and two children were alone m the lie use; several shot .struck tlx? bacu door two or three Icet from the floor.
