He had disposed of the twelve young chickens and was trying to induce a customer to take the hen. He said she was laying an egg every day and still he couldn't sell her, and when asked the reason for selling a hen that was laying an egg every day, he said she was beginning to crow and it was bad luck to keep a crowing hen, and he just had to get rid of her. With reference to crowing hens S. G. Thomson, Jr., of the Peoples! Bank vouches for the statement that within the last week a hen at the home of his father, Dr. S. G. Thomson, began to crow, and one in his own yard. The one from his own yard went immediately into the pot, and tasted just like a chicken, he says. A rooster laid an egg in the Ag ricultural Hall of London, it is claimed. Pretty soon they will have crowing hens and the erstwhile ph<oud roofers cackling.?Charles ton News and Courier.
