1 i IULJ KJ A.X+. WVWVVVWVV^VV V ^ LOWNDES VILLE. V Lowndesville, Oct. 30.?The Chau tauqua comes Friday, Oct. 31st. Ev erybody is on the qui vive, hoping an< expecting great things this year, a the different companies come highl; recoittw^nded. Members of the Civil League will sell cream in the audi torium before and after each enter tainment every day for the benefi of the school. The High School girl will have a "grab bag" which will b< a source of fun and laughter as wel as profit. It is earnestly requestei that the neighboring communitie patronize the Chautauqua, thereb; helping the town to make it a perma nent institution, coming to us ever: year with its lectures, music an< first class entertainment in ever? way. Mrs. Emma Latimer left last Sat urday for Abbeville, where she wil make her home with her sister, Mrs Ella Latimer. The entire town ii saddened over her removal, few worn en had more friends than she. Hei genial, optimistic spirit combinec with her sympathetic interest in others, drew people to her and won the friendship of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed in the churches and homes of the town, and hearts will be saddened when they no longei see, in its accustomed places, the face of the sweet, sympathetic woman who has gone in and out among the people, in times of joy and amid seasons of sorrow- for the past twenty , years. Rev. and Mrs. J; F. Anderson left Tuesday for Williamston, where they will make their home. Rev. Anderson has served, most acceptably, a two years' pastorate here and because of his age wiil retire from continuous work in the ministry. He has been engaged in the service for more than 35 years and will continue to serve as a relief, when his strength will permit. He and his estimable familv carrv with them the erood wishes and prayers of all the denominations. The benign spirituality, that radiated like a sweet incense from the hallowed lives of this good man and his saintly wife, will live in the hearts of the people.
