He will .present the German side of the war and from an educational standpoint the lecture , (will be interesting. The lecture will be in the court house Friday night at half past eight. There will be no charge. Dr. Gerhard, who represents the | German consulate in Atlanta has made several speeches :n South Carolina recently .setting forth the German side of the Great War. The Doctor will be in* Anderson on Thursday the 22nd and will come from there to Abbeville and lecture. Dr. Gerhard is a distinguished speaker and no doubt many in Abbeville will ' listen with interest to what he has to say. % Abbeville First. Church. v William Simpson Killed. William Simpson, colored, of McCormick, was killed by his wife on ,\}Supday morning, death being due to a pistol shot. The wife was arrested while in the act of committing suicide. A note was found on the person of the dead man presumably fr'?m the-wife threatening to \kiU him and then to commit suicide.
