Germany And The War.
Dr. Meyer Gerhard has accepted
the invitation to come to Abbeville
and lecture. He will .present the German
side of the war and from an
educational standpoint the lecture ,
(will be interesting. The lecture will
be in the court house Friday night at
half past eight. There will be no
charge.
Dr. Gerhard, who represents the |
German consulate in Atlanta has
made several speeches :n South Carolina
recently .setting forth the German
side of the Great War. The
Doctor will be in* Anderson on Thursday
the 22nd and will come from
there to Abbeville and lecture. Dr.
Gerhard is a distinguished speaker
and no doubt many in Abbeville will
' listen with interest to what he has
to say.

The Post Office department at
the urgent solicitation of the postmaster
at Abbeville, Mrs. Minshall,
has determined to spend about five

Off On a Trip.

for a visit to her father. It has

came here to make her home with

to visit his brother, Mr. T. S. Ellis,
and his sisters who reside n/aar there.
\ Mr. Ellis is one of the leading ministers
of the A. R. P. Church.
v William Simpson Killed.
William Simpson, colored, of McCormick,
was killed by his wife on
,\}Supday morning, death being due to
a pistol shot. The wife was arrested
while in the act of committing suicide.
A note was found on the person
of the dead man presumably fr'?m
the-wife threatening to \kiU him and
then to commit suicide.

Klugh have returned from a pleasant
visit to Mrs. Mark Bradley at Clemson.

Moving To Abbeville.
Dr. W. E. McCord, who is moving
^ to Abbeville from Conway and who
will take the office recently given up
by Dr. Harvin, has arrivec^in the city

his father owed him and then he alreadv

Mrs. J. R. Blake and her pretty
little daughter, Miss Annie Laurie,
came up from Greenwood last Friday
and were the guests of Mrs. Jas.
Chalmers until Saturday. Many
friends are always glad to have Mrs.
Blake come back.
