Tbe Synod of North Carolina met in Char lotte from the 22d lo the 2(iib, and on Tnurs day, the 24th, they came in a body to David son on a lour of Inspection. The students 01 the Presbyterian College for Women in Charlotte also came with them and spent a few hours on Davidson's campus, much to the delight of all tbe boys. Daring the afternoon they were entertained by a game of foot ball between the first and second elevens. This game was very Interesting, even more so tban bad been expected. At5 p. m. tbe visitors left on a special train for Charlotte. All seemed to have eDjoytd tbe afternoon very mucb. Oar foot ball team has already won two Victor ton Th? flrnt. of these was with Guilfor" College, tbe necontt with I he North Carol ina Military Academy. On Saturday, Octobe' 26tb, we play the University of Nortb Carolina In Charlotte. During the .State Fair al Columbia we shall play South Carolina College. and later lu tbe season we shall till dates with the University of Georgia and tbe Ueor gia School of Technology. Tbe gymnasium here is under tbe care of a skilled physical instructor, Mr. tirewin ol Boston. The prospects for a base bull team are better this year than tbey have been for several years. We have good material in College and all that Is needed to make a good team Is good training. In tbe person of Dr. James M. Douglass, a graduate of tbe Johns Hopkins University, we have a valuable addition to our faculty. He will have charge of the departments of natural philosophy and astronomy which were formerly conducted by Dr. Smith whose duties as president will not permit his continuing bis work in these branches. Under the administration of our new president, Dr. Henry Louis Smith, we see no reason why the College should not have a very successful year. ?
