They stopd. ped over a day or tjvo on their homeward i*s Journey at Anderson, Dr. Milford'B former home. ht "The Burglar" last Friday night drew ? ng good house, and It was certainly a delighted be audience that wended Its way homeward alter the curtain fell at thellnale. -The play is ce a thrllllngly interesting one, a splendid comig binatlou of humor and pathos. Laughter one moment, tears the next. The actors as a whole were good in their several parts. "The Burglar" as played by Horace'Mitch el I, "John Hamilton" by F. C. Cooke and -Edward Balnbridee" By Donald Bowles were splendidly acted parts. Manager H1U has so far made a r big hit. May his successes still continue f A wagon load of turkeys were sold in short . order in this market last Saturday. Thanksgiving may be lots of fun for us, but "its J death to the turkey." Work on the residences of L. C. Haskell, E. , Calhoun and W. D. Wilson is being done with all possible speed, aud In a short while J the handsome homes will be ready for occupancy. Miss Brock deserves much credll for having advanced them so rapidly. Those of as whose good fortune It was to be present on the above mentioned occasion were given a tine musical treat. Vocal and Instrumental music were tbe order of the night, till a pretty late hour, when we returned to our homes, hlgbly pleased with our stay at the entertainment. Messrs. Fennel and Burdett are making quite encouraging advances toward the finding of gold in their mine. Judge R. E. Cox, o' Abbeville, came up Yednesday. We were sorry that he did not stay longer with us. A very unusual sight. On the 17th of this month many of the cotton fields were as green as they were at almost any time during the summer with all of tbe cotton picked out. The largest, as to size and qnantlty, potato crops, for several years, have been gathered and stored away. The turnip crop Is unasually fine. Mr. J. H. Bell, a few days ago, without searching for tbe largest, palled up one which weighed 9 pounds and 14 ounces. Mr. W. H.
