The Ladles of Lone Cane Cemetery Society beglu to see the fruits of their labor for the past year, and so far are greatly encouraged by the success of their work. By subscription and work, land adjoining the cemetery has been bought?aud thereonto erected a neat and comfortable cottage for use of sexton, who now has the cemetery in charge, and the change already made in the cemetery Is proof that the society is on a sound basts and the interest taken In the work is most gratifying. A fence?one that will be permanent is the next proposed step of the society, aud it Is hoped that each aud every one Interested In the Long Cane cemetery will work with renewed energy until amount necessary for fence Is In the society treasury. Be it okdained by the mayor and and general Council of Abbeville, S. C., that from and after June 1st, 18117, it shall be uu- ] lawful for any rider of a bicycle to ride the j same on any sidewalk within one mile of the J Court House. Section 2. He it further ordained, That ev- rr ery rider of a bicycle shall be required to ring a bell or gong, attached to the wheel ridden, at every street crossing on the route traveled. Section s. He it further ordained, That every bicycle rider riding in the streets of Ab- _ bevillo at night shall be required to carry a V., lantern or light of such character as to clearly show the approach of said wheel at a distance of not less than one hundred feet. Section 4. He It further ordained, That the violation of ttiis Ordinauce or any Section thereof, shall subject the offender, upon trial and conviction, before the Mayor or full Council, to a flne of not more than live dollars or less than twodollars.
