Editor, Press and Banner : I have just read your Editorial on "What we Need," In your last paper. I have always thought that a "PubllcCrltIc" would be a good officer whose duty should be to find fault with everybody and sverytbiDg. Since Ben Tillman adopted ihatrule, we have bad many Imitators, an t now Ben, himself, Is on tbe gridiron afryiug ind sputtering, like the Devil himself. You know old Satan was not satisfied In Heaven and they had to make a Hell, it seems, for him and his litter, and they have been trying to drop everybody else there. The way things are going I am afraid none but "Tbe Elect" will escape, and they are scarce. Now " What We Need," It appears to me, Is to stir up the "Fool Killer" to a more lively appreciation of his duties and responsibilities. Where has be been all this year anyway, for "the harvest was plenty and tbe reapers were few." All the fools are not dead yet, and the Fool Killer's power ought to be enlarged. Why not let blra try his hand on all the liars, and slanderers, too? Tbey are multiplying to an amazing extent, anil If something Is not done, they are likely to Increase. Yes. give us a "Fool Killer" with plenipotentiary, If not Penitentiary, powers, und let's bave a "Board of Control"' to see that he does tils duty. If the Board don't do Its duty, the people will have to "rise in their might," clean out the Board and kill out all the knaves and fools, and then those who are left will have a "peace and harmony" time, but the devil of it is, that according to common reports, and what the fools ana slanderers say, nobody will be left. Anyway, lets try It. True Reformer. CHICKASAW CHAT. Visitors?Good Crops?New Citizens. Due West, S. C., Sept. 28,1896. Remember the Due West Fair cornea off October 21st.
