( The A<IviiiiIiik? ol Improved Machinery
Miulc .Manliest.
'f The Abbeville Oil Mill Olnnery has the
n latest and most improved ginning machinery,
and this fuct probably saved the de
struct ion of the entire property one day last
week. t ire was discovered In the middle of
a bale of cotton which had been ginned the
previous day. Itis though;, that a match in
the cotton set the lint afire, but the improved
[1 machinery prevetited the cotton from blaze
inu wh lie being ginned.
> The owners of the machinery hava reason
to be thankful for their escape from a close
call, and those citizens who have cotton to
. gin may bring it to the (HI Mill irinnery with
perfect immunity from risk of fire. The machinery
is safe, hut if by any accident a fire
should occur the owners of the oil mill urei
perfectly able to protect their customers.

The Fool Killer's Duties Ought to be
Greatly Enlarged.
Editor, Press and Banner :
I have just read your Editorial on "What
we Need," In your last paper.
I have always thought that a "PubllcCrltIc"
would be a good officer whose duty
should be to find fault with everybody and
sverytbiDg. Since Ben Tillman adopted
ihatrule, we have bad many Imitators, an t
now Ben, himself, Is on tbe gridiron afryiug
ind sputtering, like the Devil himself. You
know old Satan was not satisfied In Heaven
and they had to make a Hell, it seems, for
him and his litter, and they have been trying
to drop everybody else there. The way
things are going I am afraid none but "Tbe
Elect" will escape, and they are scarce.
Now " What We Need," It appears to me, Is
to stir up the "Fool Killer" to a more lively
appreciation of his duties and responsibilities.
Where has be been all this year anyway,
for "the harvest was plenty and tbe
reapers were few." All the fools are not
dead yet, and the Fool Killer's power ought
to be enlarged.
Why not let blra try his hand on
all the liars, and slanderers, too? Tbey
are multiplying to an amazing extent, anil If
something Is not done, they are likely to Increase.
Yes. give us a "Fool Killer" with
plenipotentiary, If not Penitentiary, powers,
und let's bave a "Board of Control"' to see
that he does tils duty. If the Board don't do
Its duty, the people will have to "rise in their
might," clean out the Board and kill out all
the knaves and fools, and then those who are
left will have a "peace and harmony" time,
but the devil of it is, that according to common
reports, and what the fools ana slanderers
say, nobody will be left. Anyway, lets try
It. True Reformer.
