All teachers are urged to be present. ?o? Jim Shaver, a Lancaster boy who Joined the U. S. Marines a few years j ago, returned Sunday to pay his parents and friends a visit. Mr. Sha-i Ver is stationed at New York, and states that Lancaster has grown to be a city since he left. The Morlah Union or fifth Sunday meeting held a very successful meeting last Friday at Fork Hill. The attendance was excellent. Moderator W. L. Croxton and Clerk W. F. Rstridge were at their posts of duty". Twenty of the twenty-five churches were represented by delegates. Mr. Rstridge states that any church desiring the union can communicate with W. J. Horton, Kershaw, Route No. 3, chairman of commissioners on Time and Place. Quite a number of farmers visited the News office last week. I The District Board has certified back eight white men and fifty-one I negroes to report for duty, to leave ^ for Camp Jackson at Columbia, S. C. C. and Hiram owling all of 9helby, N. C. Mr. owling was well known in Lancas>r county and was loved by all who new him. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Terry left on Wednesday for Lancaster, S. C., here Mr. Terry has purchased an iterest in a well established busless owned by his brother Mr. W. . Terry and another party. Mr. L. . Terry will be bookkeeper, cashr and treasurer. He had been a usted and popular employee of the eaboard Air Line Railway, In large of the timekeepers office for >me time and when the authorities ere apprised of his thought of laving they offered him a raise of p.arly fifty per cent.
