! SHORT LOCAL NEWS (OF GENERAL INTEREST RECENT HAPPENINGS IN CITY AND COUNTY. Doings of People in Which All Sections of Lanbaster County Are Interested. Mrs. Robt. Hortou returned from Rock Hill Infirmary Monday, accompanied by her husband. J. A. Rudisill of EdKomont, N. C.. is temporary roller manager_here foi the Western Union Telegraph Company. Miss Eliza Wylie returned home from Rock Hill Infirmary Saturday, accompanied by her sister, Miss Jaunita Wylie. Mr. Ward Sistare and Miss Vasti Fttnderburk were united in marriage March 25, 1917, Jno. A. Carnes performing the ceremony. It is a fact that there are now confined in the Lancaster county jail six white men and two negroes all charged with murder. The local express ofTlce appears to be doing a land office business now that the time approaches when dryness will reign throughout the land. The city offices have been moved into the Old Harnett stand in the Springs Hloek, and in a very short time its business will be proceeding with its usual dispatch in the now quarters. The many friends of Mr. Lawson Carnes and Miss Marie Powess of Dwight section will be pleased to know that they were united in marriage March 2E, 1917. Jno. A. Carnes, notary public, performed the ceremony. The Lancaster Cottillion Club will give their next cotillion dance Friday evening, April 6th. A splendid orchestra has been secured for the occasion and the music will be superb. A large number of couples will attend this brilliant affair and ^ many visitors are expected. It will be of great interest to the people of Lancaster county to read elsewhere in our columns the news that on Saturday next there will be held at the county court house a meeting that is of the utmost importance to every farmer. It [was stated that the temporary tiestie erected over the Catawba after ^ the freshet of last summer was ten iinches out of alignment. Train No. 118 from York came over Monday ^ morning, and reached Lancaster on '' schedule time, the trestle having been put in order again, and all 8| schedules have been resumed. Payseur were elected delegates to the Federation of Women's Clubs to he held In Hartsville. In the dining room a lovely four-course luncheon was served, while quaint Irish songs were played on the Victrola. The table, with green shaded lights, shamrock decorations and Irish flag place cards formed a most picturesque scene. * This meeting was most Interesting being also a celebration of Mrs. Ernest Moore's birthday.
