In an era of greater public Ignorance they were like a nest of cockroaches, unknown because hidden by darkness. With darkness there was also a certain amount of indifference to cleanliness, such as is apt to ensue in any dim and sunless dwelling. With the cutting of new windows comes light and the vermin are seen In all their mistiness, scurrying away before the public knowledge of facing ft with ignorant bravado according to their kind. I And with new knowledge of what | ills there are has come a widespread desires to eradicate them. Women particularly are filled with the new surroundings in which they live. There have been many false starts, of course, many mistakes and much wasto motion. Many remedies have been tried and found wanting. But the forces for good are not dismayed. Also residences on the principal streets of the city that are not connected with the sewers. We would suggest that our city council, board of health and those pushing the clean-up-sanitation work that they start on this first. It took this dreadful war to awaken world conscience to the power it may wield in this regard, but the awakening has come. There will be "peace on earth."?
