The last, day's conference between President Roosevelt's nationa' ^conservation commission, leaders in commerce and industry, lawmakers, Governors, Sen- I ators and Representatives, was fraught with much significance, but in pledgiug their support to every phase of the conservation problem, the Governors furnished the climax to one of the most eventful gatherings ever held in this country. The conference heard addi esses from Andrew Carnegie; Governors WoodrulT, of Connecticut; Ansel, of South Carolina ; Broward, of Florida ; Deneen, of Illinois; former Gov. ernor Blanchard, of Louisiana, au<l other distinguished men. v\ - - ? - : \ Ancaster Negro Killed in West Virginia A dispatch from Roanoke, Va., in yesterday's Columbia B State says: Four negroes got into a shooting scrape at Alnwick, W. Va., last night and as ' a result two of them, Bob Bur/ dette of Alnwick and Davy Crockett of Lancaster, S. C., are dead. Burdette, Crockett, Henry Cole, and George BigeH low were engaged in a crap game when a quarrel arose and all drew pistols. The shooting was general and it is not known who shot Burdette and Crockett, _ Both men received injuries in the abdomen and luners and Burdette's chin was shot away. Cole and Bigelow received slight injuries and made their escape. Fine Entertainment.
