The A. M. E. zion Appointments. Blacksburg special in Wednesday's Columbia State : Sunday closed the most successful sassion of the South Carolina nference of the A. M. E. Zion hurch ever held. The educational report which wab unavoidably deferred until tka close showed that excellent aad systematic plans were in v<>gae at the two schools at Lancaster and Rock Hill under the presidency of Profs. R. J. Grockefcte and R. J. Boulware, respectively, and remarkable progress had been made. Both are nor aal and industrial schools. Wakefield, Mass., Dec. 9?Becoming suddenly and violently insane, Hiram L Badger, a resi dent of this town, today killed' his twojjdaughters, Florence, aged 15 vears, and Catherine, aped 7, and then ran amuck through the town, shooting at persons he me! on the street and firing into the windows of the stores that he passed. Fortunately only Olio person was injured by Badger during his mad rush down Mam street., Frederick y Wheeler,* a grocer's clerk, receiving a painful wound in the leg. Badger was pursued by a crowd of townspeople who finally captured him and turned him over to the police. From the nature of Badger's raving at the police station, the officers were of the opinion that his si dden madness was due ijk primarily to jealousy. ** Mrs. Badger,the mother of the murdered children, who had been away from home on a brief vint, returned tonight. She got her first news of the tragedy through reading of it in a newspaper while on her way home. The shock of the affair prostrated her and tonight she was under the care of a physicianBadger was taken to the Cambridge jail this evening and placa ed in a padded cell.
