2 Agricultural " ? I Cotton Farmer, Distribute \ Your Debts this Year. The idea of distributing cotton debts through a period of three 1 or tour months instead of having 1 thera aU tail due in November, ' is proving popular all over the South. Mr. Ransom II in son, ' upon whose suggestion the first resolution was introduced in the Wake County Association, writes as follows in the Cottou Jour-| nal: "I realized many years ago that it was the cotton due on accounts and lion bonds due about November 1st that, put down the price and it was the strongest | weapon the bears bad to fight the cott<?n farmers with. I tried to get the Farmers' Alliance to pass a resolution to that effect fifteen years ago, and I tried also to get the Cotton Association to do so a year ago, but could not make them see as 1 did. I believe the notes and iien bonds should be made payable! October 15th, November 15th and December 30th, so as not to force the sale of so much cot toil on tlio markets at one time, which lowers the price of the distressed cotton and also helps to depress the price of the balance of the crop. I am told that there are two million tons of 'er tilizer sold iu the South, and I don't think it would cause the fertilizer manufacturers any great inconvenience to m ike par! of their notes from dealers due sixty days later. The prosperity ot .the fertilizer manufacturers ; depends upon the prosperity of j of the fanners, so they should try to help the cotton 'armc-R pet a ^ fair price for (heir cotton. I hope vou will call the a'tention of all farmers to the importance of this ma'ter and get them to take some action in all the cot ton-growing States." Oottoa farmers all over the South shouid take up this matter right now iu their clubs, unions, and associations and go in to it like fighting fire. This great congestion of debts and cot ton every fall tends to destroy jroou prices lor colton just as fire destroys oilier property. Take up the matter at once; and if you have to make debts for 1908, divide them up into smaller parts falling due nt intervals ot 30 and 60 days instead of all al once.?Progressive Farmer.
