Rock Hill Record: Bethel Presbytery met on Tuesday morning in its regular semi-annual session at Ebeuezer church. Retiring Moderator Rev. G. G. Mayes preached the opening sermon, after which Rev. E. E. Gillespie, of Yorkville, being nominated, was unanimously elected to that place. The bal^ ance of the day was taken up in the regular routine ot business Wednesday morning's session was taken up in reading reports and examiuing Candidate R. R. Gillespie, of this city, for license to preach. His examination is said to have been fine. At 11:30 he preached his trial sermon, and alter the same he was given permission to labor outside Bethel Presbytery during his summer vacation from the seminary. Mr. W. J. Roach was received as a candidate for the ministry, under the care of Bethel Presbytery. Mr. Roach is now a student of Clemson College. The afternoon session was taken up with the discussion of closer relationship to other Pres byterian and reform bodies in the United States. At Wednesday night's session Rev. J. K. Coit preached from the text assigned to him pre vious to his ordination, the bal ance of the night eeryice being taken up in the regular order of busiuess. This morning the discussion of closer relationship with other , * Presbyterian and reform bodies / wag again taken up and put to a vote. The vote stood 33 to 10 j to decline to approve the articles of agreement. Woman Charged with Death of Parents. Chicago, 111., April 25. ? A warrant charging Mrs. Sladek with tli* murder of her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mette, has been taken out. Mrs. Mette died several weeks ago and Frank Mette died on April 6A chemical analysis has been shown that Mrs. Mette was poisoned by arsenic, and it is believed that her husband's death was caused in the same manner. There is no diiect evidence against Mrs. Sladek, but she has been under suspicion since the death ot her mother, uiree brothers of Mrs Sladek are now critically ill and it is believed by the police that she endeavored to poison them. Killed in Hotel Dining Room Doerun, Oa., Aprii 20. ? Brad Fussell shot and killed J. M. Thomas last night in the dining room of the hotel at Doerun.
