A.; Bristow, a well known traveling j man ana member ol the (ireen j ville clothing firm of Smith &| Brisfow, who te.stifieh that 181 months ago he had a conversation with a whiskey drummer named Abe Hamberger, of Baltimore, in which Hamberger fold him that he had gotten an order for $07,000 ^worth of whiskey from the State dispensary and had to pay $8,000 to a member of the board of control for it.? Hamberger would not give the )^ame of the dispensary oflicial and did not say when the order was obtained. He said this was the only order he ever got from the dispensary. Hamberger last ^ugust repeated tins statement fix Baltimore in the presence of Mr. Bristow's partner, Jesse li. Smith. Bamberger told them he got the bribe hack by doctoring the whiskey, which was so mean he feared it would be shipped back. He said he paid the bribe in cash. Attorney General Youmans today rendered an opinion as to the legal phases < f the Black Lyon affair, touching the question of the Governor's action in the premises. The tendency of the opinion is that the Governor has authority to remove for the _ nr~ i ?? - oueiise cnargeu, our ihe Attorney General advises the Governor to tirsf have the charges fully sustained by sworn proof by summoning Black to "how cause why lie should not be removed, Black to give his side at this hearing and the committee to be also represented. Black's ' removal hack to the committee by sending them a copy ol the Attorney General's opinion.? An amusing incident took place at the Friday night's session of the General Conference of the M. K. Church, South, at Birmingham, during the address of VicePresident Fairbanks, and an in cident withal that resulted in some embarrassment to the VicePresident of these United States. According to the delegates from this section to the General Conference, who were present during the address, Mr. Fairbanks, alter speaking in his cold, dignified manner for several minutes, warmed to his subject and plead for harmony, peace and unity.? liising to the heights ot his eloquence Mr. Fairbanks fairly shouted: "Brethren, 1 tell you that this country needs more than any- ' thing else a united Iiepubli carbarn." ?
