Page 6 HoMri Miss South Carolina Textiles Becky Faucette and Mack Parsons set the marker for beginning the Great American Textile Run. i ( Rick Magner, Miss SC Textiles Becky her role in promoting American-made f Great Americc Road Race He Over 285 runners participated in the Sixth Annual Textile 10,000 Road Race held Oct. 15. at the Clinton YMCA A one mile "fun run," a 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter races were held with all three courses start ingand ending at the Y and the course wind ing through downtown Clinton and Presbyte rian College Kent Corley finished first overall in the one mile "fun run" with a winning time of 5 20. Geral Anderson was second at 5 20 8, Rod ney Kelly was third at 5 24, Lamar Lance finished fourth at 5:31 and Stan Gallman finished fifth with a time of 5:32. Locally, Todd Edwards of Clinton finished second in the men's 12 and under age group with a time of 6 40 and a 16th overall. Cand ance Jennings of Clinton was second in the 13 19 women's age group with a time of 6:28 In the 5.000 meter race. Moylan was last year's 5.000 meter champion also Finishing second overall was Mike McMil lian at 16:08, third was Tom Buckland at 16:33, fourth was Larry Hanson at 16 57 and fifth was Dennis Funk at 17 05. Locally, Steve Welborn of Clinton finished first in the men's 13 19 age group and eighth overall with a time of 17:39. Clinton City Manager Russell Allen finished second overall and first in the men's 30-39 age group with a time of 32:49. Third place went to Will Miles with a time of 35:49, fourth went to Perry Home with a time ol 36:20 and fifth overall was Ed Moore with a time of 26:57. Locally, Greg Whitmire ol Clinton finished second in the 13-19 age group with a time of 37:28 and had a 1 Oth place finish overall. Gregg Nibert. assistant basketball coach at PC. finished fourth in the men's 20-2S age group with a time of 39:09. Debbie White of Laurens won the women's 20-2S age group with a time of 36 41. Chip Howe finished 11th in the men's 30 39 age grouj with a time of 40:09 and Dr. Holbrook Rayn al finished 15th the men's 30 39 age grou[ with a time of 49:27.
