Page 2 John A. McNinch Jr. McNinch Named For Service Person Honor John A. McNinch Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. McNinch of Clinton, was named service person of the month for September in Connecticut, where he is presently stationed. Torpedoman First Class McNinch has been in the Navy 13 years. He graduated from Laurens High School in 1966. He is currently a supervisor of the Submarine Base pistol range in New London, ? V/UIIII. Hiscommanding officer, Capt. Walter Cox of the Submarine Support Facility said, "Petty Officer McNinch is completely dedicated to the Navy. In the accomplishment of all tasks he has demonstrated outstanding qualities as a group leader. He never loses his capacity for enthusiasm. He meets and talks to people easily and possesses an intense desire to be helpful and cooperative." McNinch is an expert marksman, and has been awarded the Navy Pistol expert and Navy Rifle Expert medals. McNinch's father, John, is a retired Clinton Plant No. 2 employee; his mother.
