^ CLOTHMAKER For Clinton Area Employees Tax Information Service Available Columbia, S. C. ? Taxpayers in the _ Clinton area can get quick answers to their tax problems by calling the Internal Revenue Service without having to pay long distance charges, H. M. McLeod, District Director of Internal Revenue for South Carolina, announced today. These residents can contact the IRS by calling 1-800-922-8810. This new phone service is available on a year-round basis to help taxpayers in all their dealings with the IRS. Although help is as near as a telephone ^ with the new system, McLeod said most taxpayers should be able to prepare their own return by following the stepby-step instructions that come with their Form 1040, If taxpayers need additional help, they can call the IRS via the toll-free telephone service. The new service will also enable taxpayers to get answers to questions on wage and price controls without having to write or visit an IRS office, McLeod said. ? Taxpayers will be able to place tollfree calls to IRS Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., McLeod said. \ la Telephone Usage Class < Doris Tumlin, second from left, was ^ Mills office personnel receiving Public in various telephone usage technique: session held here earlier this month.
