In carding. the picker lipi run through a (cries ul cylinders and comb like lcclli winch remove wasta matter and tangled short libers, and makes tha remaining libers somewhat parallel. The libers coine from the last cylinder in a filmy web. The web is drawn through two rollers thut reduce it to a rope-like strand called sliver (sly-vcr).
