Models of a sprinkler system and fire door built by Shop personnel were used in the instruction period bv Plant Fire Chief E. P. Taylor. Maintenance and operation of the systems were stressed by Taylor following the showing of "Crusaders Against Fire", a color film on the operation of sprinkler systems. Templeton joined plant production overseers and nurses for the first day of the two day 24th Annual Accident Prevention Conference in Columbia November 8-9. Claude A. Crocker. Person nel Division Chairman of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturer, presented awards to the textile plants having the best accident prevention records during the past year. Clinton and Lvdia, winners of awards in previous years, did not qualify this year. The Conference's programs of primary interest and value to textile plant personnel is sponsored each year by the South C a r o 1 i n a Industrial Commission. Lydia employees saved approximately $60,000. According to President Vance's bulletin board notice of November 3rd the checks will be given out by the Overseers with the regular payroll checks November 24. Beginning week ending November 18. all collections for the 1962 Club will be continued as now authorized unless the payroll department is otherwise notified. Anyone may start, stop or change an account at anv time during the year bv giving notice to the payroll department. The savings plan is for the convenience of employees and entirely voluntary.
