Tiny Proffitt has been visiting Charleston lately to see her mother, Mrs. Clara Humphries, who is in the hosoital. Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Sanders and children, Terry and Elizabeth, were in Atlanta recently and toured Grant's Park. The children really enjoyed all the animals. Whitmore are out of THE CLOTHMAKER SCNG Summer Training CLASSES, ARJ PREPAF Clinton's crack National Guards unit recently completed two weeks of annual active duty training at Fort Stewart, Georgia. South Carolina's eighty-eight units, composed of some 9,000 men conducted their own "war games" on the 280,000 acre fc military reservation from August 6 through August ( 20th. Clinton's Battery B 100 men unit under tlie command of Lt. Van C. Oxner moved S out by truck from the local ^ armory at 6:00 A. M. on Sunday, August 6. The unit ar- x rived intact at 4:00 P. M. The first week of training was spent almost entirely in AAA Service Practice. For those who are unfamiliar with that term. AAA Service u C Practice is the firing of Anti Aircraft Weapons at aerial . targets. The targets used bv Battery B during the week were RCAT'S (Radio Controlled Aerial Targets). The unit had the most successful practice in its histoiv, knocking down a majority of ? the RCATS and other aerial targets in the 1st AW BN. Lt. I Van C. Oxner. On Saturday morning the unit had its usual Full Field Inspection with all individual equipment being displayed on bunks. From Saturday noon until e Sunday night, all personnel 1 were given leave. The second week phase of training was spent in a tacti- c cal problem. The unit left i early Monday morning for l four days and nights in the r field.
