Foreign Mills Have
Cost Advantage
How can a foreign textile
producer ship goods to the
United States and still undersell
American manufacturer?
Here is how thev are able
to do it:
They have an industry
which, taken as a whole, is
as modern or more so than
ours; they have plenty of
know-how, a good labor supply,
with one-fifth to onetenth
the U. S. wage scale,
<
and a big advantage in the <
price at which they can buy .
cotton. ]
Not even the superior ef- *
ficieney of American textile ,
mills can make up for these i
extreme cost advantages.
